Iranian Traditional dishes

Iranian Traditional Dishes

Haven't you ever tasted Iranian Traditional Dishes!?
So you almost know nothing about the taste of food in your lifetime!!

Iranian dishes have always been, I dare say, of the most delicious and popular types of dishes in every corner of the world. Iranians know how to mix the ingredients of a food and make something super-tasty out of cereal, meat, vegetables etc. That is why I said, 'if you haven't ever tasted Iranian dishes, it means you know nothing about the taste of real food. Suppose you have kidney beans in your everyday foods; different kinds of vegetables, lamb, beef, or whatever you can think of. Now when you eat Ghormeh-Sabzi, you taste the real taste of these ingredients!

Here is a brief introduction of the most delicious Iranian Dishes:

1. Ghormeh-Sabzi (Stewed Greens)

Ghormeh-Sabzi (Stewed Greens)

Ingredients of Ghormeh-Sabzi: seasoned lamb or beef, kidney beans, parsley, leeks, coriander, dried lemons, fried onions, water, salt and different seasonings. Ghormeh-Sabzi, as a matter of fact, is the most widely eaten stew and also the most popular one among Iranians. It can be easily found in every Iranian restaurant or party. Ghormeh-Sabzi is the result of mixing ingredients through simmering. It's just served with rice.

2- Fesenjan (Pomegranate sauce and grinded Walnut stew)

Fesenjan (Pomegranate sauce and grinded Walnut stew)

Being one of the most delicious and popular dishes for everyone's taste, Fesenjan is a tasty stew which is the result of slowly mixing pomegranate sauce and grinded walnut to make a thick sauce. Little pieces of grinded lamb with onion or chicken can be another part of Fesenjan which is cooked with that thick sauce, slowly. Fesenjan should be served with rice. We, surely, offer you Fesenjan in Persian Hostel during your accommodation in Tehran.

3. Kebab (Lamb, Chicken, Lamb Liver, Ground Meat)

Kabab Kubideh

Everyone who comes from other countries to Iran, will, certainly, try Kebab in the very first meals. Kebab has many different types. The most popular type of Kebab is "Koobide"; ground meat seasoned with minced onion, salt and pepper. Although it seems so simple, but the wonderful taste of it makes everyone bewildered. "Kebab-e Barg" is another type which is sliced lamb or beef, flavored with onion, saffron, and butter. "Chicken Kebab", (Joojeh Kebab) is made from chicken which is marinated in lemon and onion, and basted with saffron and butter. Another great type of Kebab is the Lamb Liver, "Jigar", garnished with fresh basil leaves and a wedge of Lemon. All types of Kebab are cooked on the fire.

4. Gheymeh Stew

Gheymeh Stew

One of the most popular stews among Iranians is Gheymeh Stew or so called Gheymeh Polo (Polo means rice in Persian). The ingredients of this dish are: minced fresh meat, split peas, onion, tomato sauce, water, salt and other seasonings. This traditional stew is served with saffron fried potatoes and white rice. Usually Gheymeh is made with fresh lamb or beef that should be cut into small cubes. "Limoo Amani"(Persian dried lime) is used in Gheymeh Stew as a sour flavor, and also plays an important role in the amazingly delicious taste of Gheymeh polo. Generally, it's strongly recommended not to leave Iran without tasting this wonderful dish! Persian Hostel would certainly prepare the best quality Gheymeh Stew from the best restaurants in the capital.
