The north of Iran stretching from the very north west, Gardaneyeh Heyran to the very green slopes of Gorgan Province has lush green nature. If you are with the right tour guide who is well-experienced in adventure and hiking tour in the north of Iran, you will have a super special and unimaginably exciting tour. The last time the team of Persian hostel tour and travel took a tour to the lush green forests and villages in the north was in August 2017.

In this Iran adventure tour, we drove from Tehran to the west of Iran. We visited Soltaniyeh county to visit Solatniyeh dome which is registered as UNESCO World Heritage. Its brickwork and the architecture is amazing and is considered as the second biggest dome in the world. Another point of interest in this area is Dash Kasan Buddhist Temple which is a must-visit in Zanjan province. It is 20 minutes from Solatniyeh dome.

Zanjan city has its attractions to offer. Some of the top tourist attractions in Zanjan are Rakhtoshoy Khaneh Edifice. This tourist site in Zanjan used to be an underground place for the locals to wash their clothes. Saltman Museum is another point of interest in Zanjan where the corpses of some 5 to 8 thousand-year old miners who were buried beneath ruins of salt mines were found. Their corpses have not undergone utter decay. There are many other ancient artifacts found and kept in this museum which is worth visiting. Another Zanjan highlight which requires a full day of your journey, yet worthy enough, is Behestan Castle in Mahneshan county. This is 2500-year old castle is a remnant of Maad Era before Acheamenids. We did not go there in this adventure tour in Iran. But in a tour before this, we took this trip. The castle lies right beside Qezel Ozan River. To camp beside river for the night will be such an amazing experience.

The next destination was Tabriz, the clean and lovely city of Azaris. Of course, Zanjanis are Azari, but Tabrizi people speak pure Azari dialect and their city and ways seem more traditional. To start, the bazaar of Tabriz is the biggest bazaar in Iran. We strolled for an hour in this bazaar and we had a super delicious traditional breakfast in Tabriz bazaar. There are some traditional and old tea houses in Tabriz bazaar. We went into one of them and it was amazing. We felt an aura of the past. People had lazed down smoking shisha and drinking tea. There was an in visible thick belt of solace and peace surrounding this place. In Tabriz, there are a lot of attractions such as Iron Age Museum which is a cemetery where you can see the bones of some hundred-year old people. Azerbaijan Museum is a good attraction too. Some other important points of interest in Tabriz are El Goli, Constitution House of Tabriz, Amir Nezam House.

After Tabriz, we went to Ardabil but did not stop here and then to Gardane Heyran which is one of the most beautiful places in Iran. Gatdane Heyran is a huge mountain. When from Ardabil, you enter a tunnel and find yourself at the top of Gardane Heyran. Along the winding road down, there are a lot of restaurants and a lot of people selling mountain honey and various Iranian Handicrafts. We took a dirt road branched off this mountain and reached Gildeh village. This is a touristic village which is on the fringes of a forest. A lot of people hike through the forest for an hour and half to reach a natural spa. We camped on the brinks of the forest overnight, made barbecue. Early in the morning around 6 am, we set off on a big hiking. We passed through the forest and met some villages living in the nature, filled our bottles with mountain mineral waters pouring from the holes in mountains. We hiked all the way through narrow trails which looked down to steep and narrow valleys. All around us were trees stretching up to the sublime enormous lush green mountains. There were a lot of rivers and ponds of water where we stopped by to rest. After an hour and half we reached hot spa and sat into warm water for an hour. It was so soothing and exciting too.

By the end of the day we drove and reached Masuleh village and wandered in this gorgeous village. This village is a true gem in the north of Iran. The houses, which overlap one another, are built 1300 years ago. It is surprising that the roof of one house is the yard of the one above. In the bazaar of Masuleh, you can buy dazzling trinkets and Persian handicrafts from the north of Iran. By night, we camped on slightly high slopes facing the village. In the morning, we head to the village and found an old and famous tea house and had omelet and scrambled egg. After that, we walked in the village for some hours and headed to Foman. In Foman, we went to Qaleh Rudkhan. In this beautiful place, you should hike for some small hours and take 1100 steps to reach an ancient castle. The road to the castle is amazing and castle itself is beautiful too. We went back down, had dinner made camp and the next day returned back to Tehran.
